FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The VIA’s new “REACH” initiative is striving to create proactive pathways to mental well-being in our community.
What is REACH?
The VIA’s new initiative – creating proactive pathways to mental well–being in our community. Our goal is to expand the VIA’s long-standing mission by creating greater awareness and increasing access to mental well-being resources in our community.
Who is the VIA?
We are a passionate group of change-makers who carry on the mission of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) founded in 1895. The original women of the VIA were responsible for starting Doylestown Hospital, and for over a century, the VIA has led important philanthropic efforts across Bucks County.
Why haven’t I heard of the VIA?
You may not know our name, but you likely know our work. For more than 100 years, the VIA has worked quietly behind the scenes—primarily focusing on supporting Doylestown Hospital. You’ve likely heard of the Bucks County Designer House, our largest fundraiser. The VIA also owns the historic James-Lorah Memorial Home on North Main Street, which has hosted countless community events over the years.
Is the VIA’s mission changing?
Our mission remains the same—the REACH initiative helps us take it further. Enhancing the health and well-being of central Bucks County and surrounding communities will always be our mission. However, in this new era after transferring stewardship of Doylestown Hospital to Penn Medicine, we are addressing other needs in our community. Through the REACH initiative, we’re strengthening our focus on education, awareness, and resources that promote mental health and well-being.
How can I get involved with REACH?
Attend our community conversation program in November to learn more about this important effort. We’re developing opportunities for community involvement, and we’ll be sharing more at an evening program in November. If you’d like to learn more in the meantime, please email icare@viareach.org.
Can I join the VIA?
Yes—action-oriented women of all ages who share our passion are always welcome to join the VIA. If you’re interested in more information about joining a fabulous group of women who make change, please email icare@viareach.org.
